Marker Pens- Spent hours blending and shading the face. I have always been obsessed with the face, a model myself I am a perfectionist for finding the right expression. I usually want the most glamorous aesthetic with a hint of fantasy in them, but for this painting I wanted to express a deeper emotion I think collectively humans were feeling at the time of 2020. This face is a character of a face, exaggerated for the feature to heighten the emotion it is portrays.
- Oil Pens- Used on the eyes and for highlight. The sight shine on oil pens as opposed to the marker base used on face brings forward the white highlight even more, dialing up contrast a bit more.
- Epoxy Finish- Wanted this piece to feel like this persons tears have filled up the canvas. Epoxy really activates iridescent and metallic elements thus giving more dimension.
- Acrylic Paint- Used in the background in a solid black for dramatic effect. Also used in the clouds and hair to build texture into the piece.
- Black Acrylic Paint- Used on background for solid dramatic feature.
- Iridescent Rain Drops- The term when it rains it pours came to mind adding these rain drops.
- Combination of metallic, non metallic and iridescent paints were used to achieve depth in the Warm Fiery red hair and throughout the piece. the whole piece was very cool colored so I wanted to add a contrasting color in the hair.
